How to Laser Engrave Leather

Engraving leather is a worthwhile skill to master, and learning how to engrave leather is not as hard as you might think. All you need to do is create your design in your chosen laser software, place your leather in the workbed, and align the laser head frame to your workpiece. Then, you can start the laser engraving process by sending the design from your computer to the machine.

How to Clean Leather After Laser Engraving

After your leather engraving is done, you can clean off any laser stains, marks, or burns by wiping the leather with a special leather cleaner or a cloth dipped lightly in rubbing alcohol.

How to Seal Leather After Laser Engraving
You should always seal your leather engravings after you clean any laser debris off of it. Sealing the leather helps preserve it. As the coating locks out dust, it protects and beautifies the leather's finish.

To seal your laser cut leather engraving, apply a light coat of beeswax, saddle soap, or leather conditioner oil. Allow it to air dry completely. Apply a second coat if needed. Then, coat the smooth grain leather with a protective leather sealer, covering all the way to the edges. Allow it to air dry completely.
